Dear Fellow Colleagues,
My mission to serve as the EBC President is nearing the end. I am stepping into a new position to serve our EBC community, that of being a Trustee for a term of two years, 2008 until 2010.
I am proud of the many accomplishments of our EBC Board during the past year 2007-08. We were a component ready to be dissolved, yet we regrouped, surfaced and we thrived. We had memorable community and social events, as well as CE events which rocked the boat. We proved to be just like the oil stands above the water.
I am proud of my EBC Community, and I give a standing ovation to our new President, Tresa Irby. She will continue the endless tradition of our component and she will take us to new and exciting dimensions.
Your EBC Board will meet over the summer to plan events for the upcoming year. Please stay tuned to our news and events by going to our website, www.eastbaycomponent.org.
Your HOD (House of Delegates) just got back from Sacramento. They have great news for you. The students’ enthusiasm was one of the highlights of the meeting. It looks that the future is in great hands!
There is one more outstanding piece of information: on June 13, 2008 Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed the Bill - SB853, which gives the RDH autonomy, and makes California the first state, (“the pioneer state”) to have passed such legislature. Hurray, the future is in our hands!
Sincerely,
Your Past-President, Emilia Ion.
