CALIFORNIA VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
RAM, Remote Area Medical, coming to Oakland and Sacramento in April 2011. The underserved, uninsured and underinsured of the Oakland and Sacramento areas were chosen to receive dental, medical, vision, women's health and other services in two 4 day clinics. The magnitude of this effort is huge. We need your services. Please volunteer for a day or several, in Oakland or Sacramento...or both sites. April 1 - 4, 2011 April 9 - 12, 2011
Remote Area Medical® (RAM) is bringing an expedition to California in April 2011. This expedition will be comprised of two 4 day clinics. The first clinic will be held in Sacramento at Cal Expo. The second clinic will be held in Oakland at the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum.
RAM helps to provide free Dental, Vision, and Medical services to the uninsured, underinsured, and unemployed, with the aid of medical professional volunteers, as well as general volunteers. A list of some of the services provided are:
- DENTAL: Cleaning, Fillings, and Extractions
- VISION: Complete Eye Exams. Prescription Glasses Made on Site
- MEDICAL: Physicals, Diabetes Screening, Cancer Screening, Immunizations
- WOMAN’S HEALTH: Mammograms, PAP Smears, Breast Exams
- ACUPUNCTURE
The California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CALAOMS) is the host coordinator for this expedition. Please help us support these clinics by volunteering for a day, or multiple days at either or both venues. We need MDs, RNs, DDS/DMDs, OMSs, RDHs, DAs, Ophths, ODs, Opticians, Op Techs, and general volunteers. Rotary Dental Mission
Thanks to all for volunteering for the March Trip to Mexico. The Rotary Dental Mission was amazing. We had the largest group of providers we've ever had. We saw 135 patients in 2 days and most patients were able to have multiple treatments (mosting cleanings and fillings or extractions). We had 2 dentists from Mexico, 3 hygienists from California (2 from Orange County and 1 from Nevada County) and 5 dentists from Northern California (3 from Nevada County and 2 from Yuba County). I've attached a few photos for you to check out! We're nailing down a date for October and I'll let you know as soon as it's confirmed.
